Is it live, or is it Memorex? Reboot.
The Project – Reinterpreted Vector Illustration
This custom illustration work involved including Sally Book Bunny in the 1978 photo by Steve Steigman. You will recognize it because the original “Blown Away” photo was used in the famous ad (Is it live, or is it Memorex?) where a stylish and extremely relaxed guy is sitting in a chic 1928 LC-2 Grand Confort modernist armchair with his tie getting blown away and his martini flying off the side table because of the power of the Memorex recording coming through a single JBL L100 speaker. Who is this Sally Book Bunny Character?
Sally Book Bunny is a vector cartoon character created in Adobe Illustrator CC. Sally is loosely based on a real person, and is a recurring character in standalone graphics, like this one, and a children’s book series.
Cool in her own right, Sally’s ears, and the hedgehog slippers she is wearing, are being blown away by the impressive sound coming from the speaker. The splashing martini has been replaced with some flying books and an airborne coffee cup and saucer. Reinterpreted vector illustration work is always fun. It’s exciting to know how the illustrations I create will be used. This particular illustration is being used to announce upgraded audio equipment at a library in Maine.
I have created illustrations for children’s’ books, infographics, social media, posters, caricatures, logos and more. If you are looking for an illustrator, I am available. I have several styles I use and am always open to trying something new and exciting. Feel free to contact me with any ideas you have.
