I’M CHARISSA. NICE TO MEET YOU!
I am a creative from the East Coast of the United States specializing in website design and custom illustration. I have been creating since I started using crayons. I was very good at coloring inside the lines, but often did not because it was too restricting. I also liked drawing/painting on walls and tables (and stuff)…my parents were not happy about this.
I got started in the graphic design industry in 2001 after having my son. It was important to me to be able to watch him grow up and freelancing has allowed me to do just that.
Inspired by my long time favorite espresso drink, the latte (3 shots, please) has powered me through when I’ve needed a boost. I also have a weakness for sweet tea (hey, I am from the South!).
I design custom websites
My tool of choice is WordPress, built on the Genesis Framework. I create websites and blogs that are unique, user friendly and effective. I keep up to date with the latest tools, web standards and technology. I use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for the graphic elements of my web design work.
My illustration work comes in two flavors (digital and hand drawn)
That doesn’t mean I won’t combine the two for a unique look. My digital illustration work is powered by Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop via my Bamboo tablet. My hand-drawn work uses one or a combination of pen/ink, pencil, watercolor and acrylic. I am entirely self-taught, learning by observation, experimentation and trial and error. This has given me a lot of freedom, an eclectic style and a large body of work. NEED AN ILLUSTRATOR?
Other Creative Outlets
I love taking photos and creating art. My favorite places to take photos are old cities (especially Charleston and Savannah). Cats, old architecture and weathered things are the subjects I am particularly drawn to.
I am hopelessly addicted to cats.
I currently have 4 of my own. I foster as well, so often have little ones running around until they are ready to be adopted. I’ve definitely had some heartbreak over the years, but have saved so many in the process. It is very worth it.
I appreciate my clients and truly enjoy what I do.
Many of my clients are long-term and I am proud that a great deal of my client base comes from referrals. Check out what my clients have to say about me.
